The central portrait seated profile, dressed in an ultramarine shawl and a golden
tunic with purple sleeve. surrounded by a boarder of flowers and gilded foliage. The
portrait identified by a label to verso as Louis XI - who reinvigorated Limoges enamel
production at the end of the 15th century after its slow decline during the latter
medieval period.
