Pair New Guinea Polychrome Decorated Shields


From the Central Highlands of New Guinea, Yandabari Valley and the Upper Mendi people.
These shields, known as “Worrumbi”, were commonly used in pitched battles between clans.
They are constructed of hardwood and decorated in ochre or pipe clay with symbolic geometric motifs.
Each shield is 120 x 28 cm.
